Exact Payroll is a Pennsylvania/Florida based family owned business.  Mort Lightman first started in South Florida in the early 1990s with Payroll Depot.  Payroll Depot operated as the largest independent payroll companies in the state of Florida in the 1990s and successfully serviced thousands of clients of all sizes.  Most notably Payroll Depot helped develop and design various workers’ compensation payment options commonly used by many small companies throughout the US.   Payroll Depot was one of the first companies to provide a captive payroll option for banks including major regional bank(s). Union Planters bank engaged Payroll Depot to provide payroll services to clients banking at over 300 branches in the southeast.  Union Planters Bank was acquired by Regions Bank.

Payroll Depot was acquired in 2000 by Advantage Payroll.   Shortly thereafter, Advantage Payroll was acquired by Paychex®.   In late 2000, Mitchell Lightman sold his interest in a Pennsylvania based finance company and started Exact Payroll Inc.   A few years after Paychex® acquired Advantage Payroll,  Exact Payroll opened an office in Boca Raton.  

During 2003 Exact Payroll moved into our current offices in Huntingdon Valley PA where our headquarters remains today.   Utilizing a rich supply of local available talented staff and the stability that comes with very little staff turnover,  our clients have come to rely on a steady consistent level of support, knowledge and accuracy. 

We continue to leverage our experienced staff and technology to provide cutting edge solutions through our authorized partnership with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group).    While many HCM and Payroll companies still support multiple software platforms, we have chosen to support only the UKG platform allowing us to become top tier experts, and in some cases community consultants to other UKG licensees.   We employ the concept of "focus and be the best" instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
