Compliance with Prevailing Wage Laws

Each worker’s gross weekly wages must meet or exceed the local prevailing wage rates for similar work in the same jurisdiction. Federal prevailing wage determinations are available in the Sam.gov database, but when a state’s prevailing wage laws require higher-than-federal pay, companies are required to pay this amount.

Submit Certified Payroll Reports

Certified payroll reports must be submitted weekly to the federal project’s contracting agency. These can be submitted electronically and must include names, SSNs, hours worked, work classifications, as well as gross pay, net pay, and itemized deductions showing amounts withheld for taxes, benefits and other authorized purposes.

Contractors are obligated to keep records of employee time, pay rates, and deductions for at least three years beyond a project’s completion.
